Ms Kitty RLynn Lickers
Kitty RLynn Lickers is a Grandmother, Mother, Auntie, Friend, scholar, educator, and community-engaged practitioner whose interdisciplinary work focuses on Indigenous food sovereignty, Indigenous foodways, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), and the relationships between land, food, culture, and community.
She holds a BA in Contemporary Studies and an MA in Social Justice and Community Engagement and teaches Traditional Ecological Knowledge at the university level. Her research and teaching engage land-based learning, Haudenosaunee food knowledge, Indigenous food systems, seed and agricultural practices, and community/generational knowledge transmission.
Through her work with Nourish and the Food Is Our Medicine program, she contributes to community-engaged approaches that position food as a site of knowledge, cultural continuity, relationship, and social justice. This is because of her firm belief that everything is about connections and relationship.
