On July 13, 2026, the Voices of Future Generations Children’s Initiative (VoFG CI) was honoured to be part of the launch of Indigenous Peoples Inspiring Sustainable Development: Implementing UNDRIP through International Law and Covenants, held at Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa.
Co-authored by Professors Marie-Claire Cordonier Segger and Wayne Garnons-Williams and published by Cambridge University Press, this important work explores how Indigenous knowledge systems, treaty relationships, and international legal frameworks—including the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP)—can advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while upholding Indigenous self-determination, governance, and treaty rights.
The event brought together distinguished guests, legal experts, academics, and community representatives to celebrate this significant contribution to Indigenous rights, international law, and sustainable development.
As part of the event, VoFG CI was featured in a special showcase highlighting the importance of empowering children and young people to advance human rights, sustainability, and intergenerational justice through storytelling and education. The initiative recognizes that young people play an important role in shaping a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future, while ensuring Indigenous voices, knowledge, and stories are heard and valued.
VoFG CI is proud to support spaces that connect generations, celebrate Indigenous knowledge, and encourage children to become active contributors to positive change in their communities and beyond.
We congratulate and thank the authors and everyone who contributed to this meaningful event and the ongoing dialogue on Indigenous rights and sustainable development.
