FUTURES 2026- A compilation of short stories from young writers from around the world

Edited by Nico Cordonier Gehring

Futures 2026, published by the Voices of Future Generations Children’s Initiative, brings together 30 award-winning short stories by young writers from six continents, alongside artwork, articles, and photography from contributors aged 8-18 worldwide.

Now in its second edition, the anthology explores urgent global challenges, from climate action and clean water to gender equality, cultural identity, and social justice, through powerful, youth-driven storytelling. These stories transform complex issues into lived experiences, following young protagonists who protect ecosystems, defend their rights, and reimagine their communities.

Across the collection, themes of environmental stewardship, Indigenous identity, technology, and justice emerge, often led by courageous young girls and grounded in intergenerational knowledge. Together, they show that meaningful change can begin with a single voice.

Futures 2026 is more than a book; it is a global platform for youth perspectives and a call to action. Through storytelling and creativity, young people are shaping the conversation on sustainability and inspiring change at every level.

Read, share, and be part of the movement. The future is being written now.
