Bella Morrisseau Whiskeyjack

Bella Morrisseau Whiskeyjack was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and is a proud member of the Saddle Lake Cree Nation. She also shares strong family roots with the Grand Rapids Cree through her loving grandfather, who has raised Bella and her brother after the passing of their father.

Bella is a Voices of Future Generations Indigenous Child Ambassador for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), using her voice to inspire change and promote Indigenous leadership. She has already been recognized for her exceptional storytelling skills, earning school awards for her writing and aspiring to become a published author in the future.

In 2020, Bella made history as the youngest recipient of Alberta’s Global News Woman of Vision award—an honour that celebrates the remarkable achievements of women making a difference in their communities.

Beyond writing, Bella has a wide range of interests including veterinary sciences and construction. She enjoys school, spending time with her family and friends, and dreaming big about the future. With her creativity, resilience, and strong connection to her culture, Bella is a shining example of young Indigenous leadership in action.
